“But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.” Luke 11:20
When the magicians tried to bring forth lice with their chantings as Aaron did with his rod in his attempts to free the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage, they were unsuccessful and proclaimed to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” (Exodus 8:19)
While Moses was communing with God on Mount Sinai, he was given “two tables of testimony” written on stone “with the finger of God.” (Exodus 31:18)
Fingers of a man’s hand wrote a message on the wall for King Belshazzar which only Daniel, the man of God, could interpret for him. (See Daniel 5.)
The “finger of God” represents His power and His working—that is, His Spirit. Jesus proved that power when He cast out the dumb spirit. His critics accused Him of casting it out by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, but Jesus made it clear that a kingdom divided against itself will not stand. (Satan would not drive out Satan.) Instead, Jesus told the Pharisees He was driving out the demons “by the Spirit of God” and that therefore the “kingdom of God” had come unto them. (Matthew 12:28)
Think of it…all that POWER, in merely the “finger” of God!
PRAY: “Father, let Your finger rest on me today. Point out those areas of my character that need refining, and move powerfully on my behalf in the way that I should walk. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
