October 5 – Holy Productivity

“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.” Titus 3:14(NIV)

Many people either have heard or quoted themselves from II Thessalonians 3:lOb(NIV): “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” The work ethic is good advice and necessary in order to provide for your family, but had you thought of it as “doing what is good”?

Paul continues in Verse 11-13: “We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.”

Betty Malz and Roberts Liardon, people who have somehow visited heaven in the spirit and written books about their experiences, indicate that there is a flurry of activity in that kingdom. Holy productivity is going on there continually.

To be holy in YOUR productivity while on earth, it is necessary to ask for the Holy Spirit’s direction, empowerment, and timing before running off into too many directions. There is much to be done, but it is NOT all to be done by you. Think about it…and be sure to dedicate all that you do to the Lord.

PRAY: “Father, You know best! Help me to decipher Your plans for me today. I do not want to be running to and fro with no specific purpose. Amen.”
