October 3 – Who Is Your Caregiver?

“Cast  your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.”  Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

An apostle of the Lord reiterated the psalmist in I Peter 5:7 (NIV) where he wrote: “Cast all your anxiety on [God] because he cares for you.”

It’s great to know how deeply God cares and that He wants to carry your burdens, but sometimes it seems hard to lean on a God you cannot SEE or TOUCH in the natural realm. Of course, God knew that, so He chose to put His Spirit in PEOPLE. He sees His Church as a BODY that lovingly cares for each of the particular members…just as God would do.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” Galatians 6:2-3(NIV)

Apparently, many times pride gets in the way of the ability to GIVE and RECEIVE help for one another because, in Verse 6, Peter says you first must “humble yourself… under God’s mighty hand” before he can “lift you up in due time.”

How often do you struggle all by yourself and fall before you turn to the Lord and let Him minister to you through someone else? By His Spirit, GOD is the caregiver through PEOPLE. Allow the body of Christ to work as God intended and fulfill His law of love.

PRAY: “Heavenly Father, I thank You for the comfort of Your Spirit and the fellowship of the saints. Help me to function well in Your Church body. Keep me humble and my ears open. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
