October 16 – The Decision to Grow in God

“Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.” Psalm 105:4

You will never GROW in God without a willingness to CHANGE. Growth requires change. Many people are satisfied to remain the same and therefore will never see growth in their Christian lives.

For things to remain the same, you simply must DO NOTHING. For things to change, you must make a decision to DO SOMETHING. If you do nothing, you can never be wrong! However, you can never be RIGHT, either! Besides, doing nothing is boring!

The Bible says that to grow in God you must “SEEK” God. To “SEEK” God means to PURSUE Him. You can pursue Him through PRAYER, FELLOWSHIP, INVOLVEMENT (in God’s work), GIVING (of finances), and WITNESSING. When you pursue God, you are pursuing RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Hosea 10:12 says, “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy, break up your fallow [idle] ground: for it is time to seek the Lord….” Are you ready to change? Are you ready to grow? Have you made the decision to “SEEK” God? Remember, Hebrew 11:16 says, “[God] is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

PRAY: “Dear Father, I am willing to make whatever changes are necessary for me to grow. Increase my desire and discipline to ‘seek’ You more. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
