October 17 – Commitment

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” Psalm 37:5

The Bible says, “COMMIT” your way unto the Lord, not “SUBMIT” (under duress). It’s your decision to give your life back to God and trust Him in all your ways. God will not force you to love Him and serve Him. He has given you a free will. It is YOUR choice.

When you “commit” your way unto God, you are exchanging YOUR way for HIS Way. You are actually putting your own way to death and choosing God’s Way instead. You are “sanctifying” your way…“devoting” it to destruction. However, when you are ready to die, God is ready to give you life!

“Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.” (Romans 6:8) It is God’s law of divine exchange. You give Him your old dead plans, and He breathes life into them and gives them back, plus more!

Commitment is a painful but rewarding process. As you allow your way to line up with God’s Way, He promises to “bring it to pass.” Therein lies the reward… God will bring it to pass. Go ahead. “Commit” that plan 100% to God. It is YOUR decision.

PRAY:  “Faithful God, You have never turned Your back on me, even when I tried to run from You. Help me to die to my selfish desires and ‘commit’ wholly to Your will. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
